This proposed legislation passed the State Senate and almost passed the Assembly during the last Session, when issues were raised about how this law would work.
As the Legislative Session ended earlier this week, proposed laws have already been filed in both houses. There appears to be strong political pressure to adopt this legislation once all issues have been worked out.
We will keep track of the debate and process through the Legislature as the Legislative Session proceeds. There is also great interest in these proposed laws from drivers charged with DWI, as New Jersey is the only State in the region that does not have some form of work or provisional license.
